HOAGLAND, Smith

Smith Edward Hoagland, beloved husband of Mary Sines Hoagland, was born at Mt. Washington, KY on Feb 11 1872. He was the son of James and Sarah Griffin Hoagland, pioneers of Kentucky. Smith came to Fountain County 56 years ago at the age of 21 and spent all of his adult life here. He was one of the most energetic men in the country and a most tireless worker in fields that contributed greatly to the welfare of our community and country. His life was spent onf the farm, always a producer. Many years he spent producing coal from the surrounding country. he never falter in his labors until illness forced him so to do. He leaves a heritage to those who survive him of which few men boast. he had a strong body. he possessed a sterling character and in his way had a faith in God that was an inspiration to all who knew him. In addition to his widow he is survived by Fred Hoagland and Dallas Hoagland, son; William Hoagland, Stone bluff and Richard Hoagland of Benchel, Ky., brothers; Mr. Pearl Curley and mrs. Martha Lancaster of Louisville Ky, sisters. Also 7 grandchildren and 5 great grand children. smith Hoagland was a member of the AF&AM Yeddo Lodge 636. He will rest in the family lot at Centennial Cemetery, Yeddo.
